Hi all thanks for the invite my name is Duncan I am almost 50 years old and returning to the radio hobby after many years got my first rig in the 70's while still in school my Handel back then was " road runner " I had a rig all through the 80's and 90's then don't no why but gave up i used to make my own antenna and had a mobile rig on my bike and dads car. In the day I had FM , AM , And SSB getting back into CB now after finding it again via using a Scanner to listen in just acquired an old 40 channel fm cb but plan to get a SS6900N soon I will be running mobile in my vw transporter campervan using an Avanti moonraker 4 mobile on a mag mount also planning to take my foundation exam. It would be great to chat to you guys and please can you issue me a callsign I am home based in Sandymoor Runcorn close to Warrington but travel all over in my campervan and spend a lot of time next to the air base in valley as have a caravan sited in Rhosniger Anglesey. Thanks for the welcome and hope to catch you all soon on DX

Hello Duncan welcome to the forum and back to the hobby, the forum is in a state of flux at the moment following a change of host, we've all had to re register some have made it here and others not yet! Good luck with your foundation studies let us know when you have passed it would be great to work you on the ham bands!

Hi from Blue Boy, personal Tom, in North Manchester. 66 year old once avid CBer when the aunty mary rigs first came in in the 70's. Too much foul language, music playing and general bad behaviour led me away. Got myself a TTi 660 from Maplins just before they closed. Nice little rig that I use mobile. Never was keen on home base simply because I used cb for the road. Now getting into it a little with a silver rod and a 5 star. Like to make my own antennae as well and have a wire di-pole that's equalling the silver rod. Both quite low mounted. Not into burners. I have requested a call sign but don't think I did it in the right place. Try this and wait - I realise there are problems and can be patient..... Thank you....

Welcome along, you'd be one of the few based on what/who I've heard since being back on. Personally I don't see the need to run over 4 whisky at the moment since my antennae is getting me out really well, further than I can copy anyway.

I kind of feel it's a bit unfair to push out further than that, potentially talking on top of other folk's overs and not knowing it.

When I get a better home base arrangement than my homebrew on a fence post and can pull in more distant signals then I might consider wiring up the 4-30w "smoulderer" (not really a burner with that power haha) but not before I can hear whomever can hear me.

Hi everyone I’m new to all this and a new member to CT, I’d love my call sign to be 26DR1111 because them letters and numbers are important to me, I’m not sure how they sort out callsigns and if you can pic your own or if you get a choice, I’d love to know how they allocate them, sorry I’m such a noob at this.
