Hi all,
Just doing an online foundation course,
Great Knowledge but don’t know if Ham is for me,
Am looking at CB or new to me pmr,
I live in North Essex,
Does any body know which would have more contacts
or any regular nets,

They are good for different things. If you pass the Foundation licence you will have access to bands which have a lot more activity on them at present than CB does, and with DX propagation which even with 10 watts you'll be able to get into. But I think there are a reasonable number of people around in Essex so that even if you just have a cheapie VHF/UHF handheld you will be able to make contacts via repeaters.

20m, 40m and 80m bands are very busy and you need a licence for those. Fusion, DStar, DMR and Echolink internet connected repeaters have more available than CB. When they're connected to the internet you can access similar internet connected repeaters in other countries so you could be there in your garden with your handheld talking to someone in the states on theirs.
