Hi All, I am looking to purchase a mobile antenna today and after a massive read into options, I have finally got down to two antennas. I need to choose between the following:
Sirio 5000 or President Dakota
If anyone has had experience with either antenna, can you please help me choose which one to purchase.

All sirio mobile antenna are decent. The 5000 is a great antenna but it's not very practical due to length. The Ml145, I'm my opinion ALOMOST matches the 5000, I also think the Sirio 4000 outperforms the 5000.
The Ml145 is half the cost with almost identical performace

the 4000hp is a great antenna, I use it all the time and they will come with a little yellow ticked scratch card, and you scratch it and it will reveal a number, go to the sirio sight and the number tell you its a good antenna no yellow ticked, it could be fake antenna and will not swr and could harm the radio you are using, but for the money there a very well made and they handle allot of power, they take lots of power I use a tri mag on the car and at 120+ they never moved.

The President Texas out performs them all but since you can't buy them in this country anymore the next best thing would be the President Colorado 1800.

The 4000 and 5000 have an identical length whip, side by side comparison they match each other S point for S point, the only difference is the bandwidth below 2:1 which the 5000 wins.
Disagree with it being too long. It might be if you're using a magmount but if you're using a fixed mount it's not an issue, the whip is quite happy to bend over 90 degrees under a low height barrier and spring back. I've even had one coiled up in a suitcase 24hrs when I went to Menorca several years ago and it popped right back.

I'm speaking in personal preference, the comment i made in regard to length is just my opinion.Iasnt saying the 4000 and 5000 were different lengths, I said the ML145 and the 4000/5000 were different lengths. The ML145 performs almost as good as the big brothers, thats for sure. I found the 4000 to be get my signal out better. Like I say, just my finding from buying and trying. I used the Sirio magmounts because i'm not drilling holes into my car for any hobby. The 4000/5000 had to be taken off the car each time i go in the garage. It's a pain.
Each antenna installation will always be different for different people, there are many variables in play when doing any antenna install so its ok listening to peoples opinions but the best way to know for sure is buy them and try them.

For a shorter one the Sirio 3000 is about an S point or so down on a CB meter - I think it was a York 863 I was using at the time. Stations that were S7 on the 5000 were just above S5 on the 3000.
Maybe a good thing you don't drill holes cos once you have done you can never go back to magmounts.
