Hi. Complete newbie here. I have had CB radio's years ago but wasn't really into it as a hobby. Anyway I recently bought myself a Midland Alan 78 plus at a good price. Interested to see if anyone using fm40 in my local area Telford.

Hi Spinna,
You might hear me around most week days on my way into work at around 5pm.

Channel 19 (27.78125) the old 27/81
Sadly, there are only around 7 of us left on the CB around Telford...

Thanks for the welcome guys. Hi LuCiFeR. I actually saw you up Sainsbury's retail a few days ago. I recognize the car in your profile pic. That's some aerial you have on it😁. I drive an Orange ford transit with Grey bonnet.

Aye, the old girl has had a change of antennas since that profile pic Smile.  In fact it may have sprouted an extra one or two haha.

I tend go up in the Shropshire Hills at the weekend to do a little DX... I generally get inundated with car enthusiasts or curious people wondering what the hell I am doing or both Smile

Well, I look forward to hearing you on the radio.

When I saw you I remember thinking well there is at least one person still using CB in local area 😂. Yes I'm sure the antenna I saw was considerably bigger. Do you run your coax cable in through the boot then. Would imagine you've had to drill through to passenger compartment as fixed seats aren't they in beemers

Haha, I had a lot of fun installing this lot...  drilling, routing cables, curing RF issues.... earth bonding.

But it's the price we pay for this hobby of ours Smile.

In some respects, I wish I had just drilled some holes in the roof instead... it would have been a pain in the ass ripping out the roof liner and stuff, but hell, it would have probably done less damage to the paintwork.  These boot/hatchback mounts have waaay to much movement and dirt and crap gets underneath them and it acts like sandpaper... gonna need a bit more than cutting compund to fix it if I decide to change car...

Right I've bored you enough...  l8rs Wink
