Hi, I’m David From Durham UK, I’m a Gunsmith but have been listening to scanners and used Boafeng on PMR 446, I’m a noob to CB 11 and would like to get into CB and SSB, iv been buying some new things to get me started iv got the CTR Surperstar 6900 as my first unit because it looks easy to get my head around and iv bought a Sirio 2016 antenna not up yet and radio not used either, so looking for information and help to what else I might need to have the best start in CB radio, thanks and I hope iv posted in the right place I’m not very good with this kind of thing, also I’d love to have a CB callsign hope I can have or pic 26DR1111 or delta Romeo 1111 or something like that but I’m not sure how you get or give out your CB members a handle or callsign help on that too would be great thanks in advance.

Hi David, welcome to CTDX, from your list I see your setting up a Homebase station. Nice all round radio and one of the best antenna's !, only two things to add, a decent SWR meter and a good power supply (something 30amp or over would be future proof). Waiting myself for a CT Call Sign but there are some issues moving databases from old server to this one at the moment, patience may be required. Look forward to trying to make the trip to Durham as the prop returns. 73s Steve.

Thanks StevieG, thank you so much for the information and nice welcome, as I listen on scanners and things I got to hear some good chatter and got me thinking I should get on air, Ham sounds good too but don’t know if that’s for me or not, I’m always building things and customise everything I get my hands on just built a custom made Disc cone scanner antenna the indoor type but it’s on a converted tripod that I can adjust, and it’s all in military colours, I’m also into prepping, I must be having a mid life crisis thanks again 73s

Hello David, welcome to the forum and to the hobby, just so you know when call signs resume you will be issued one in the format of 26-CT---- which is the standard format for this group.

Hi David, unfortunately those numbers went a long time ago I'm afraid. I think we were up to 4 digits starting with 26-CT-3--- so that's what you'll be looking at. Sorry for the delay. It's worth noting that if you want to use 26-DR-1111 there's nothing stopping you doing so but it won't be associated with this particular DX group. It looks like you've got everything you need other than a S.W.R meter to set up and get on the air so don't let the call sign hold you back get yourself on the air and let us know how you're getting on! P.S. don't forget the patch lead to go with the S.W.R meter. Good luck!

Thanks again, it’s ok then I will just wait and take any that is allocated to me, my set up is on hold for a moment as me and my partner are separating and I have 6 kids, so things are a bit hectic at the moment, so I’m on sorting a place to live, happy days , yes I cannot wait to get on the CB I’m on building a base station, in a unit I’m making it’s going to have everything fitted neatly all together, I will post some photos when I’m finished, but thanks again for the help. 73s
