| As title really. Will a ¼ wave tank whip make a decent homebase antenna and are there any dos or don'ts with it? | |

| Cheers. I wasn't sure about a groundplane but a couple of wires shouldn't be difficult. Would any old wire do? Like speaker cable? | |

| Think of it like this. A mobile whip is only half of an aerial, the car is the other half. So using a mobile whip as a base aerial, you NEED the other half as in groundplane radials | |

| I used one years ago ontop of a thunderpole 2 homebase antenna , it worked better than the thunderpoles original coil , I'd highly recommend using one especially with a good ground plane | |

| Hi. Kebab. I use a Tankwhip with 3" extension for 26.285 H/B with my 11m Inverted V underneath as g/plane. It will also tune down to 20m with my MFJ Atu. The Tankwhips are underrated! Also use 2 for mobile use 1 for Mids/Hi's. 1 for low/S.lows. 73's Mike SW. | |
