Hello
New to forums so be gentle
Both me and my wife were avid CBers way back and my interest has been renewed recently by a friend so
Both our audioline 341's have been to the rig doctors for a service and I've been on a spending spree
Boafeng uv5r
Crt micron
Crt ss6900n
Antron 99
Enjoying just sat listening for now with the antron being mounted very low ( it's going on the chimney at 450 asl within the next couple of weeks)
Could someone please point me in the right direction to acquire a charlie tango call sign please do i have to request one or will i be allocated one when time allows administrators to do so
Looking forward to joining a few nets
73's for now here's hoping to be talking to a few fellow members soon

Hi Andy,

Firstly, welcome to the Charlie Tango DX group Smile

It's entirely up to you how you pronounce your callsign, it's all about making it clear to the party receiving you. I'd use the former for a difficult sideband transmission and the latter for anything else. Usually, but not always, people revert to using a personal name, (or handle), after a contact is made which just makes life a bit easier. Some will drop the country prefix, (in your case '26' for the UK), but this prefix will be important if you are speaking to someone else in a different country.

I have noticed in recent years that often, (but not always), CB users are far more clear in their transmissions than a lot of licenced radio amateurs are (!) Makes things a lot easier for not only the parties concerned but also those shortwave listeners who like to log receptions too.

Use whatever method works for you in that particular circumstance to get a clear transmission across. Remember, there are no hard rules just guidelines. It's all about enjoying your chosen hobby and radio can be such a great one Smile

All the best,
Victor
